We’re closing in on the final days of 2020, any unfinished business you’re trying to tackle before the calendar flips?
I’m setting up my 2021 planner! I’m going to start by saying that for years, I’ve been unsuccessful and using planners. In elementary, middle, and high school, we had “planner checks,” where your teacher makes sure that you had all your homework written in your planner every day. On most days, my planner was bare because I kept it all up here *points to brain*
For the past few years, I’ve tried different paper planners and journals, but I was never good at keeping it up. My friend got me a digital version of the Passion Planner for my iPad, so I’m just trying to organize it and make it look pretty to motivate me to use it this upcoming year to stay organized and reflect more.
In spite of everything that’s unfolded in the past several months, what will you be most grateful for in 2020?
I’m grateful that COVID-19 didn’t have a large effect on important aspects of my life. Because of that, I was able to accomplish some of the goals I set for myself in 2020 like purchase our first home, work from home, and find a new full-time job. I feel like 2020 would have been a lot different for me if we didn’t have technology! Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to work from home, do workout videos, Facetime with family and friends, and online shop from wreath + robe!
What’s one buzz word (or phrase) you wish would die with 2020?
“No cap” and “you’re cappin!” I know what they mean and I just don’t think it makes sense!
Any favorite shows you’re watching this season?
During these cold and rainy days, I only watch things that make me feel good inside (basically, rom-coms, reality TV competitions, and Disney movies). I keep rewatching Dash & Lily on Netflix! It’s such a cute and romantic Christmas series.
Also, I hate that I’m saying this…I’m so HOOKED on this season of The Bachelorette! I never seriously watched any of the Bachelor/Bachelorette episodes before and when we were waiting for election results to be announced, I desperately needed something to watch. I already knew about the drama from social media friends, so I skipped Clare’s episodes and started with Tayshia’s episodes. I’m not sure if I’ll continue to watch any future Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons, but anything can happen in 2021!
If you could choose one word or phrase to guide 2021 what would it be?
Kindness.
Go back to New Year’s Eve, 2019. If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
“Dear future Mia, 2020 is going to be a *wild* way to start the decade. Find some positivity in each day, even when it feels like there isn’t any. Don’t ask why but tomorrow, you should buy a desk and home gym equipment!
Fast forward one year. What’s one thing you would have liked to achieve?
I’m currently seeing a chiropractor and a massage therapist for some neck and back problems. I’m still exercising to strengthen those parts of my body and stretching more, so I am hoping that I won’t have these problems one year from now!
I also want to be able to do a handstand or cartwheel! I feel like cartwheeling is something you learn when you’re a child and just remember how to do when you’re adult, but I never did that haha.
If you could sum up 2020 in either a song or movie title, what would it be?
“I Want to Break Free” by Queen
